Abstract
Amid the rapid development of the digital economy, vocational colleges play an increasingly critical role in rural revitalization. This study explores how digital skills can enhance the capacity of vocational colleges to drive rural economic transformation, proposing pathways and innovative models. Through a systematic literature review and theoretical analysis, the study examines the application of digital skills in vocational education and their impact on rural economic development. Grounded in technology empowerment and educational ecosystem theories, a theoretical framework and practical model are established for vocational colleges to support rural transformation. Findings reveal that digital skills, through curriculum updates, optimization of talent training mechanisms, and improved rural economic competitiveness, significantly enhance colleges’ capacity to serve rural economies. However, challenges persist, such as weak digital infrastructure, a shortage of skilled educators, and insufficient collaboration between institutions and local communities. To address these issues, the study recommends strengthening digital curricula, fostering collaboration between institutions and enterprises, improving digital infrastructure, and enhancing teacher training systems. This research provides theoretical guidance for vocational colleges and practical recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.
