Abstract
This paper aims to systematically and theoretically analyze the Gothic novel style of Edgar Allan Poe, exploring its unique position and innovations in literary history. The study focuses on the formation, development, and influence of Poe's Gothic style. Using literature analysis, it discusses various aspects such as themes, psychological depiction, and narrative techniques, based on existing research from both domestic and international scholars. The research begins with an overview of Poe's life and creative background, followed by an analysis of key stylistic elements in his representative Gothic novels, including the creation of horror atmospheres, depiction of eerie settings, and portrayal of psychological terror. It then delves into Poe's innovative methods using psychological, literary criticism, and cultural studies perspectives, such as the integration of personal emotional experiences with social contexts and the interplay between psychological depiction and plot structure. The study concludes by summarizing the core characteristics of Poe's Gothic style, recognizing its distinctive approach to horror atmosphere and its high artistic value in psychological depiction and narrative structure. The findings reveal that Poe's unique Gothic style, developed through the inheritance and evolution of traditional Gothic elements, has had a profound influence on subsequent literature. This research provides theoretical support for understanding Poe's literary contributions and lays a foundation for future studies in the Gothic novel domain.
