Abstract
In today's era, the process of interpersonal communication among college students is a process of socialization. With the rapid development of information technology, online social networking has gradually become an important means and approach for contemporary college students to engage in interpersonal communication, increasingly becoming an indispensable part of their learning and life, playing a very important role in the growth and development of college students. In view of this, this article explores the impact of online social networking on college students through the literature research method. Online social networking has a positive impact on expanding the scope of interpersonal communication among college students, increasing the freedom of their interpersonal communication, and strengthening the timeliness of communication. However, it also has negative effects, such as causing confusion in self-awareness in reality, weakening safety awareness, and confusion in real-life interpersonal relationships. Based on these negative effects, this article proposes measures from three levels: individual, school, and society, to overcome the negative impact of online social networking and better leverage its positive effects.
